Zimbabwe Car Hire has negotiated the very best insurance cover for the vehicles in our fleet. To give you peace of mind you should know that all vehicles are comprehensively covered. It is our practice to insure the vehicle not designated drivers, which means so long as you register with us “who” will be driving the rental vehicle, we will not charge you any more for each driver!
Should you buy ‘excess’ cover
In the unlikely event you have an accident or worse the car is stolen through no fault of your own, you will be liable for 5% of the insured value of the vehicle, or 15% of any repairs made to the vehicle.
If the windscreen needs to be replaced, then you will only be charged one third the cost to replace it. Many people want to know if they can “buy excess” and many other services offered by other insurance companies, to reduce their “excess”, or “damage waivers”, “windscreen cover”, and many other possibilities.
At Zimbabwe Car Hire we have negotiated the very lowest cost of insurance possible, with the maximum cover for our clients. We actually have a much more comprehensive agreement for Hire cars than you may find elsewhere. Our motto is “Affordable Freedom” and don”t see why you the client should pay more. Therefore we keep daily hire charges down. Zimbabwe Car Hire wants to keep things simple, while offering you great service and peace of mind.
If you are an international guest to Zimbabwe, and you want additional cover on top of what we offer, we recommend you approach your own broker in your country for international vehicle rentals (make sure it covers Zimbabwe), some of these brokers offer additional cover should you want it. You can find many of them online.
Licencing and vehicle maintainence
All vehicles are insured for hire, with all necessary licensing completed. All vehicles are serviced on a regular basis and cleaned to a high standard. Due to the age of the vehicles, occasionally the air-conditioning can fail, therefore please speak to the Zimbabwe Car Hire team if this is a non-negotiable for your hire. If the air-conditioning system is temporarily unavailable in a vehicle you are renting, a lower daily rate is always provided.
All cars supplied by Zimbabwe Car Hire are SECOND HAND vehicles (+/- 5 years old) and not brand new, therefore we would implore clients to have that expectation. Small defects on the body work, or inside the vehicle are common on vehicles of this age.

All vehicles are maintained to a very high level, and in the highly unlikely possibility of a breakdown, Zimbabwe Car Hire is available 24 hours a day to rescue you, nationwide. Wherever possible, Zimbabwe Car Hire will provide you with an alternative vehicle while your hire car is fixed.
All clients must provide a cash deposit before taking a vehicle from the pick up points. The cash deposit is required in case of damage to the vehicle during the hire. Cash will be returned if the vehicle is returned without issues. The Zimbabwe Car Hire office has a list of charges applicable to any damages to the vehicle which will be applied to any damaged vehicle on the return of the vehicle. This is non-negotiable, so please don’t bring stories! Ask the Zimbabwe Car Hire team for more details on the car you choose.
Zimbabwe Car Hire does NOT have the ability to hold deposits on credit cards (as other car hire companies have), therefore you must bring cash only.
